Catherine Goss

Catherine is currently an independent teaching artist, rehearsal director, adjudicator, mentor and movement coach. Catherine was awarded the Centenary Federation Medal for Services to Dance in 2003. 

She has held artistic positions with a variety of companies, including Associate Artistic Director of West Australian Ballet ; Rehearsal Director with Bangarra Dance TheatreSydney Dance Company and TasDance.  She was Assistant to the Director of Australian Dance Theatre in 2002 . While overseas she was interim Ballet Mistress for Introdans in The Netherlands.  

Catherine’s performance credits include soloist with Royal New Zealand Ballet,  Graeme Murphy’s Sydney Dance Company and Reflexdansgezelschap  (Netherlands). She has performed and collaborated in many independent productions both in Australia and internationally. Her formative years of dance training were under the guidance of Janet Karin and Bryan Lawrence in Canberra. She is a graduate of Victorian College of the Arts under Anne Wooliams direction.

Catherine has been invited as guest teacher for Royal New Zealand Ballet, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Matthew Bournes “Swan Lake”  and Introdans to name a few.  She currently teaches company class for Sydney Dance Company  as well as at SDC open class program, NIDA, Ev and Bow, Danceworks, Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and many other vocational studios in Sydney. She is Deputy Chair of the Dance and Physical Theatre Panel of the Helpmann Awards. Catherine is a Director and the NSW coordinator and teaching artist of the  Dance for Parkinson’s Australia, program.
