Simonne Smiles

Simonne trained as a classical ballet dancer, attending The Australian Ballet school, Melbourne followed by completing an Advanced Diploma through WAAPA, Perth. She then worked professionally as a classical ballet dancer for over 10 years both in Australia and overseas, including work with Queensland Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre, Bondi Ballet, Melbourne Ballet and Suzhou Science and Cultural Arts Centre (Director: Stephen Jeffries). Following this Simonne went on to freelance performing, branching into other genres such as adagio and aerial performing also. Performing at major corporate events as an aerial artist with Debonair. As a Sydney- based freelance performer for the last 10 years Simonne is constantly creating work, choreographing and collaborating with other artists. She has performed in Edinburgh, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne Fringe Festivals. Simonne holds a Bachelor of Arts (sociology) as well as an Advanced Diploma of Dance and a Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction. She teaches a variety of students through to working with professional dancers of Bangarra Dance Theatre, Sydney Dance Company and The Australian Ballet, as a conditioning coach. She has a love of working with people from all walks of life, as well as sharing her art form within a wider community. Last year Simonne created a balletic flashmob as part of Royal North Shore Hospitals Festival of Music Week. Well received by participants and audience alike. Simonne aims to diversify her talents through nurturing her artistic collaborations with other artists aswell as continually aiming to create new projects and opportunities.
